Chuck Norris Responds

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

On the official ChuckNorris.com website, a new post reads ‘IN RESPONSE TO THE “RANDOM FACTS” THAT ARE BEING GENERATED ON THE INTERNET’:

I’m aware of the made up declarations about me that have recently begun to appear on the Internet and in emails as “Chuck Norris facts.” I’ve seen some of them. Some are funny. Some are pretty far out. Being more a student of the Wild West than the wild world of the Internet, I’m not quite sure what to make of it. It’s quite surprising. I do know that boys will be boys, and I neither take offense nor take these things too seriously.

I guess this new website chucknorrisfacts.com is making the rounds.

Of course, the cool kids have been creating Chuck Norris facts for years at Chuck Norris Fact Generator, including:

  • Chuck Norris’ tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.
  • Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.
  • Chuck Norris can touch MC Hammer.
  • Chuck Norris ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and got one.

I can stop blogging now

Just checked some referrer stats here for sablog.com and it looks like I’ve achieved search engine referral zen. Getting ranked for those terms has been a long time in the coming… but now that I’ve made it in the top #10, I’d like to thank the Academy and all those who’ve supported me along the way. It’s been a tough journey, but we’ve persevered, managing to rise above the comment & link spammers that abound on this web in ranking for those terms. What should we shoot for next?

My All Consuming

Saturday, January 7th, 2006

More time wasting fun! I’m in the process of cataloging every book I’ve ever read (that’s worth mentioning) in the past 10 years (even beyond if they’re still in my library, i.e. Catcher in the Rye). I’m even trying to include the dates that items were “consumed.”

You can see what I’ve read, watched, etc on my all consuming page over at allconsuming.net.

All Consuming is another fine site brought to you by the Robot Co-op. It’s written in 100% Ruby on Rails, if I’m not mistaken.

Digg Advice: Don’t Post Half-Baked Articles

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

And, it’s probably not wise to submit your own content either. If it’s good enough, someone else will find it and submit it themselves.

I had to learn the hard way.

Posting something you find useful to your blog is one thing. Sure, maybe a few of your friends will see it and find it useful. Maybe it will show up in Google searches and people will appreciate that you put it out there for others to see and learn from your experiences.

But standing up to Digg scrutiny is an entirely different matter altogether.

Being one on the Way of The Dude, it’s tough to understand such negativity sometimes.

If you don’t find an article useful, just move along. Why be so “too cool for school” as I like to say? :)

I guess I’ll just have to buy everyone a round of virtual caucasians, and maybe we can all be a little more dude-like in the future.

Another caucasian, Gary!
– The Big Lebowski aka “The Dude”

Another quote I can’t resist posting:
Well, that’s just like… your opinion, man.

My Latest Addiction (Obligatory Sudoku Post)

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

You may have seen this addictive little puzzle at Borders or your local mega-bookstore.

They had an entire table (about 30+ books) devoted to Sudoku at both bookstores I recently visited.

What’s all the fuss about?

Of course, you can play online but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I haven’t become quite as fanatical about these puzzles as some people, but it is a good time passer.

Currently I’m working my way through one book’s medium level puzzles. I’ve gotten stuck on one step for 10 minutes or so. Usually when I come back later, suddenly a solution appears for a particular box and I’m on my way again.

For now, I’m a tad afraid of the Fiendish level that my Sudoku book also features.

The Art of Exotic Dancing

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

A friend of mine will be checking out The Art of Exotic Dancing classes.

Molly, 41? Mother of 4? Gee, from that picture, I’ll take two. (*kidding*)

I’ll have to report back after the classes, and let ya’ll know how they worked out for my special lady friend.

Of course… we all know who the real winner is when they take these classes. :)
