Used G5s?

Based on a few comments from an earlier post, I know I have at least one or two mac readers who drop by every once in a while.

My Mac Mini is really dragging these days… I would go with the new PowerBook but I don’t really need the mobility at the moment, + its a bit pricey.

eBay only has two G5s listed for sale at the moment… it seems like Craiglist would be better for finding something like this but I’m kind of worried about all the Nigerian scam artists on there =)

Update: I wrote to about 10 guys who posted about used G5s on craigslist (Phoenix area) and none wrote back. Strange.

Any other ideas on sources for used G5s?

And, have you called the Apple Store in Phoenix? I worked at couple of them, and we always had returns and refreshes.

And, you can always find them online at the apple store, in the refreshed section. Might be out of the price range, but that is up to you.

Pick up a Mac magazine, MacAddict and, or Macworld. Several dealers that carry used Macs advertize in their back pages. Apple.com also has a listing of local Apple dealers who might have on for sale.

You might hold off for a month, The Intel replacement for the pro level G5 might be announced August 11.

Thanks for the heads up.

I hadn’t thought of the Apple Store (wasn’t sure if they had refurbs).

I also just might have to wait for the Intel G5 =)
