Social Networking Site Dilemma

Friday, March 26th, 2004

Does anyone else have this problem — they don’t know which social networking site to concentrate their energies on?

I was into Friendster for a while but that’s really only good for keeping track of old friends and new ones. It’s not geared toward meeting new business contacts like the older Ryze or its newer cousin LinkedIn.

I think Google’s acquisition advances were spurned by Friendster so they belatedly launched Orkut, which seems moot to me at this point. Friendster has a lock on the social/dating scene, Tribe.net seems to have a lock on turning these types of services for classified-ad type recommendation sites, somewhat a la Craigslist.

Well, I’m off to explore some more of these Social Networking sites. I just hate spamming my friends with join requests from multiple sites. Owell.
